Meet our Young Ambassadors
We’re proud to launch SeeSaw’s Young Ambassadors Programme!
This new project is facilitated by Communications Manager Liv Webster, alongside the group of 18–25-year-olds who have been bereaved of a parent, carer, or sibling. Drawing on their own experiences, our Young Ambassadors want to ensure other children and young people know they are not alone, and with the right support, it’s possible to grow around grief and build hope for the future.
The Young Ambassadors share a commitment to advocating for bereaved children and young people, reducing stigma around grief, raising awareness of SeeSaw, and want to help shape a future where support is more accessible for children and young people, if and when they need it. Led by their voice and insight, the group will share stories and advice, create digital content, get involved at SeeSaw events, and help to shape SeeSaw’s services.
“I first heard about SeeSaw when I was 14 since I had just recently lost my mum to cancer. I jumped at a chance to work with SeeSaw again within our new Young Ambassadors group because of the amazing things I know SeeSaw can and does do. I hope to give back the same energy, effort and care that SeeSaw offered me when I needed it most within all of our upcoming projects. I can’t wait to see all of the amazing ideas and ventures that come out of our new group!”
Missy (19), Young Ambassador
Some of the Young Ambassadors met up earlier this month to share ideas, connect as a group, support one another, and look ahead to what they could achieve from participation in this programme. Activities included a very competitive round of mini golf, thanks to our friends at Junkyard Golf, delicious lunch at Westgate Social, and a brainstorming session to plan upcoming digital content and consider various opportunities they may want to engage with.
We believe those we support should see themselves reflected in our work – this programme is an opportunity for young people to honour their personal journey with grief and feel empowered, build confidence, gain useful skills, and explore their interests, whilst connecting with SeeSaw in a way that’s meaningful to them.
Stay tuned for more exciting Young Ambassador news, project updates, and powerful content – we’re proud to be taking this next step alongside our Young Ambassadors.
